I'm not an electrical engineer, so I can't speak to thermal design or driver topology. What I can tell you from a procurement perspective is that Supplier B answered all three questions with specific numbers. Supplier A said they were ISO 9001 certified and that "quality is built into our process." Supplier A said "all our products are UL listed" and went silent for four days when I asked for certificate numbers. When they finally responded, the UL listing they'd referenced belonged to a completely different product family—not the track fixtures I was ordering.

Still, there are legitimate reasons to consider a supplier like Supplier A in other situations:
- You have schedule flexibility. If a few weeks of slip won't hurt your project, a lower base price might make sense.
- You have internal technical support. If your engineering team can verify specs, check certifications, and handle batch QC themselves, some of those gaps don't matter as much.
- You're planning repeat orders. The tooling fee amortizes across multiple runs, and the per-unit economics might favor the cheaper supplier in the long run—if their reliability holds.
And you might prefer a transparent, full-service supplier when:
- The project has a hard deadline. A predictable lead time is worth more than an optimistic one.
- Compliance risk is high. A fixture that doesn't meet local codes is a liability, not a cost saving.
- You don't have an engineering team as a safety net. The supplier's guidance is your only buffer between a specification gap and a field failure.
